A combined total of over 500 madressa children from about 15 centres are served with nutritious meals daily, Monday to Fridays. For many of these children, who come from impoverished backgrounds, this often is the first meal of the day. This is IDM’s practical way of catering for the well being of the learners. Furthermore, the feeding is coupled with the process of learning. The duaat/social workers and their spouses assist in preparing the meals for the students at the respective centres.
At 5 centres (Mariannridge, Mariannhill, Maboloka, Embalenhle and Kwapata), meals are served after the Jumua Salaat. These are also in historically disadvantaged areas.
